Verbena rigida

A smaller Verbena than V. bonariensis, less hardy as it originates in Brazil and Peru, so while it will survives light frosts as a tuberous perennial, it is better to site it in a sheltered position. Overwintering as cuttings is a good insurance. Allow it to self seed and treat it as an annual that may come back if lost. 60cm tall and a spreading plant with masses of purple flowers like its taller cousin, it is a lovely addition to the front of a border.
