The flowers are solitary and large popping out of the ground in autumn when little is out, making a blaze of colour. Easy in light shade or sun if moist while growing. These bulbs are toxic to sheep and rabbits and so are good subjects to naturalise in meadows. If you can get some, the sheep can maintain the grass!
